Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Local residents who receive benefits under the American Samoa Disaster Relief Fund Assistance (ASDRFA) administered by the Dept. of Human and Social Services (DHSS) are advised that benefits for this month will be disbursed beginning July 20th.

This, according to DHSS director Muavaefaatasi John Suisala, is due largely to the delay in the arrival of the food coupon paper shipment. Moreover, “because of the unanticipated high number of participants in excess of 17,500 and over $14 million in benefits already distributed,” DHSS will start “reducing benefit levels” beginning with this month’s issuance, until the end of the program in September.

More information will be forthcoming from DHSS, as the staff continues to work on closing out issuance for the month of June.

Full schedule for the mass insurance for regular monthly food stamp benefits for July 2020 can be found at the DHSS/ASNAP office in Utulei. It begins today, Wednesday, July 1st with – G, H, I, J, K.
