Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Development Bank of American Samoa, in a press release, has announced a one-time 50% waiver for its ASG student loan recipients for a limited amount of time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ASG student loan program has been in existence for a long time, and is available to all local high school graduates, including those students, who do not qualify for an ASG scholarship.

DBAS handles the administrative duties and collection.

In its press release, DBAS notes that “due to the uncertainties of the current COVID-19 pandemic, a one-time 50% waiver with zero interest rate, is currently available for all ASG student loan recipients locally, graduated or not.

“This offer is limited and will expire on December 31, 2020, and it applies to all students here locally and ASG and private sector employees on island,” the media release states.

“We hope that all ASG student loan recipients here locally take advantage of this opportunity,” it concludes.
