Am Samoa Jr Tennis athletes invited to Australian team event
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Four young tennis stars from American Samoa have received invitations to represent the Pacific Oceania region in the prestigious Australian Team Event in Gold Coast, Australia, scheduled from June 23 to June 30, 2025.
The athletes selected include:
• Hermann Thomsen (U11 Boys)
• Joella Ioane (U11 Girls)
• Joelei Ioane (U13 Girls)
• Aifili Tamasoali’i (U15 Boys)
These athletes are hot off a successful performance at the Pacific Oceania Junior Championship in Fiji, where American Samoa claimed the title of winning nation.
The invitation to the Australian Team Event is another exciting opportunity for these young athletes to further their tennis careers on the international stage.
The invitation comes through the combined efforts of the Grand Slam Player Development Program (GSPDP), the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and the Oceania Tennis Federation (OTF), who continue to support and develop young talents in the Pacific region.
The athletes and their coaches are eager to showcase their skills in Australia and represent American Samoa, as well as the Pacific Oceania region, in this exciting international event.
A statement from the American Samoa Tennis Association (ASTA) President and Board highlighted how “incredibly grateful” they were “for the continued development opportunities offered to our junior athletes.
“Our young players have truly become world travelers, and this is a direct result of their hard work, commitment, and the results they produce both on and off the court.
“We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to watching their growth and success on the global stage.
