125th Flag Day Celebration Awards ceremony

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Over $250,000 in monetary awards was given out during an awards ceremony held at the Office of Samoan Affairs on Monday, April 21, 2025 for participants & competitors in the 2025 125th Flag Day celebrations. It also included cash awards for cultural entertainment during the festivities held at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.

For the Flag Day Regatta, all 11 fautasi received cash awards.

1. Aeto from Pago Pago – $25,000

2. Paepaeulupoo from Aua-$23,000

3. Manulele Tausala-Low Rider from Nu’uuli-$18.000

4. Matasaua from Manu’a – $16,000

5. Lupelele from Iliili – $14,000

6. Iseula o le Moana from Fagatogo – $12,000

7. Taema from Leone – $10,000

The four fautasi eliminated in the preliminary heats all received $7,000.

For the Flag Day Cricket Competition, the following was awarded:

Men’s Division — 7 teams participated

1. Sinapati from Tafuna – $12,000

2. Tama o le Lega from Poloa – $11,000

3. Tama Mosi’ula from Masefau – $10,000

4. Pisisami from Vaitogi – $9,000

The three teams that did not place were each awarded $2,000.

Women’s Division — 12 teams participated, far outnumbering the Men’s teams

1. Moamoaniua from Sailele – $12,000

2. Teine ole I’a from Fagasa – $11,000

3. Teine Sea’ula from Aoa – $10,000

4. Teine Fetu Afiafi from Fagaalu- $9,000

The 8 remaining teams were each presented $2,000.

Cultural entertainment at the Veterans Memorial Stadium was provided by three church groups — the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Methodist Church. They were each presented $25,000.

In total, $252,075 was awarded for prizes and participation during the 125th Flag Day - 2025 celebrations.
