Apia, SAMOA — Five men jointly charged with causing grievous bodily harm appeared in the Samoa Supreme Court this week for the alleged beating of a man accused of raping a female relative.

All entered pleas of not guilty.

Newsline Samoa understands that the defendants are related to the victim of the alleged rape earlier this year.

The accused appeared in court last week.

He was granted bail by Justice Tafaoimalo who was presiding, with the condition he was not to set foot where the offense had supposedly occurred.

However, he did not abide by his bail condition and was seen at the village where the alleged assault occurred.

The five men charged with grievous bodily harm allegedly beat up on him when he appeared in the village.
