Gov forwards Lefiti’s nomination for Police Commissioner to Fono
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga has submitted the nomination of Lefiti Falelauli’i Pese as Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
In his letter to the Speaker of the House, Savali Talavou Ale, Lemanu stated that Lefiti has faithfully served the Territory for 40 years. His years of service in the American Samoa Government (ASG) as well as the Judicial Branch is a testament to his commitment and dedication to the territory.
A house resolution for Lefiti’s nomination was introduced in the chamber yesterday morning and his confirmation hearing is now scheduled for Monday, Feb.22nd at 8:30a.m. The hearing will be chaired by the House Public Safety Committee chairman, Rep. Avagafono Vaimaga Maiava, a former deputy commissioner.
