Election Office update on 2020 General Election

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Election Office says that petitions will be ready on June 15th at the Election Office for candidates running for public office: Governor/ Lt. Governor, U.S Congress and Fono House of Representatives.

Package will be available ONLY for candidates:

•     Nomination papers

•     Candidate Manual

•     Updated registration list (Per district for Faipule) We can only provide one list per candidate

•     Campaign spending forms

•     Register to Vote Brochure

Deadline to file petition will be on September 1, 2020

Also,the Election Office is now accepting absentee ballot requests up until October 19, 2020. This applies only to those who are in the uniformed services, students, ASG employees and Federal Employees.

All must be registered with the American Samoa Election Office.

To request an absentee ballot, please visit the Election Office website at www.aselectionoffice.gov for guidance to the absentee ballot form.

Also, those who haven’t registered to vote in this year’s election are reminded to come and register at Election Office in Tafuna.

Documents needed for registration:

•     Birth certificate or U.S passport

•     Social Security Card

•     Government Official ID

“Voting is the most important right and responsibility that our people have,” Chief Election Officer Dr. Lealofi Uiagalelei said.

We would like to inform all voters to please exercise their right to vote on Election Day. Play a role in choosing our leaders. Make that vote count this coming Election.
