Community partners to host mental health summit

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), in collaboration with government and non-profit partners, will be hosting a hybrid virtual and in-person summit focusing on issues impacting veteran mental health.

The summit is slated for June 16th and June 17th at the Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs Center in Tafuna or virtually via zoom. Summit organizers believe in the importance of connection and collaboration for growth.  

VA partnering agencies include the Vet Center, Alliance Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Empowering Pacific Islander Communities (EPIC), Office of Protection and Advocacy, Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs, Department of Health, the Department of Human and Social Services, and J&E productions. 

The planning committee invites veterans, families, service providers and the general community to share with experts in the field of mental health. Topics will include suicide prevention and postvention, and fostering resiliency. 

The summit is free to the public and all are encouraged to register early to secure your seat!
