Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA —Leaders and elders of the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa (CCCAS) have designated, June 6th, this coming Sunday, as "Pray for Samoa" day for the entire CCCAS locally and abroad “to remember and pray for Samoa and the political situation going on over there at the moment,” Rev. Nafatali Faleali’i the CCCAS Secretary General told Samoa News Thursday.

Rev. Faleali’i also shared a copy of the official letter he signed and was sent out on Wednesday to all CCCAS congregations regarding the designation of Sunday to “Pray for Samoa”.

The letter, dated June 2nd, and also posted on the church’s website (www.efkas.org) explained the “Pray for Samoa” or “Tatalo mo Samoa” event, and noted that the decision was made by the church board and committee of elders.

CCCAS, the largest religious faith in the territory, also has membership in Hawaii, the US mainland, New Zealand and Australia.

The political instability in Samoa following the Apr. 9th general election has resulted in court hearings, where rule of law is being tested.
