ASTCA update on Manu’a mobile, internet and phone services
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ASTCA services on Ofu and Olosega were stabilized on April 16, following several days when ASTCA services were not working properly.
At the present time, landline phone services are working properly and reliably. Broadband internet, mobile voice services (VoLTE), and mobile data services (LTE) are all stable and operational. ASTCA is working to overcome a few minor limitations with those services. ASTCA has discontinued iPTV services on Ofu and Olosega but hopes to restore those soon.
ASTCA is working towards full restoration of reliable landline, Broadband and mobile services on Ofu and Olosega, as part of the recovery effort that followed a full outage that began on March 27 caused by two submarine fiber optic cable breaks near Auasi (Tutuila) and Ofu.
Permanent repairs to the submarine cables serving Ofu and Olosega will not be completed this year, but ASTCA is taking a series of remedial actions to provide Ofu and Olosega with stable and reliable services through use of satellite, microwave, and other over-the-air means.
ASTCA services on Ta’u island are unaffected, as Ta’u is served by its own submarine ber optic cable. ASTCA thanks the public for its patience during this recovery period.
