Culinary Academy holds its second graduation

The American Samoa Culinary Academy held their second graduation yesterday morning at the Fa’atamalii Center, in Malaeimi, with 27 graduates ready to hit the food industry with their new skills and training in culinary arts.

The head of the Academy Chef Sualua Tupolo said, “This is a real good occasion that we have our second group. Our motto is ‘Transforming lives through Culinary Education’ and I think you have seen evidence of that today. We want to wish all of the students the best and hope that we can continue to be a beacon of light for them and a good resource for them at the culinary school,” said Chef Sualua.

Keynote speaker First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono stated that all of this excellent work will be in vain, if they do not apply it... she urged the graduating class to lead their family and friends to overall good health. On speaking on good healthy eating, the first lady said, “Everyone has a role in protecting our children. You can make a difference in today’s world.

Chef Sualua presented First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono and Mrs. Elisapeta N. Sunia, each with a complete chef bag with utensils and a chef's uniform.

Samoa News spoke with one the graduates, Charles Muafono who said, “This was a great opportunity for us being here at the American Samoa Culinary Academy. I want to thank my mom and dad, Chef Sualua for their support and the First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono for being here today,” he said.
