Special Weather Bulletin: High wind advisory

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — This is a special bulletin from the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security – TEMCO issued at 05:00 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Tutuila, Aunu’u, Manu’a and Swains Islands, and is in effect until 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018. This is due to Southeast winds of 35 to 40 miles per hour (mph) with higher gusts.

Residents are urged to be extremely cautious for safety, protect life and property, and continue to monitor weather forecasts for updates. Strong winds can cause power disruptions, as well as hazards to motorists and outdoor activities.

The National Weather Service has also advised of the continuation of a High Surf Warning for Tutuila, Aunu’u, Manu’a and Swains Islands.

The American Samoa Department of Homeland Security – TEMCO will continue to monitor the situation and we will issue further bulletins if necessary. Report any flooding or landslides to the EOC at 699-3800 or the Police at 633-1111.
