Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The surgical and medical wards in the hospital are undergoing “facelift projects” initiated by hospital Chief Executive Officer Moefa’auo Bill Emmsley.

According to the hospital’s newsletter the goal is to beautify and renovate the internal facility, which according to LBJ would enhance the patient care experience at LBJ, mainly focusing on the patient ward rooms and the Emergency Room.

Acting Chief Engineer Veronica Gasio, said the work is being done internally by their maintenance and housekeeping crews is much needed.

“So far, 4 patient rooms in the medical and surgical wards have been completed with one room in progress.

Work being done includes repairing and repainting walls, replacing restroom sinks and baseboards, and buffing and polishing floors. Because LBJ is a 24-hour facility, the work has to be done in stages so it will not interfere with Ward operations.

Acting Maintenance Manager Faletoa Ulufale said they did well in coordinating with medical staff completing the work in a timely manner.

“In coming weeks, more patient rooms will undergo the same [refurbishing] with targeted areas completed and turned over to the respective wards promptly.

“It is in the CEO’s best interest that by the completion of these facelift projects, it will provide a warm and inviting environment for all especially, the patients,” says the newsletter.
