Man allegedly threatens to kill his wife

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On May 25, 2025, a victim of a domestic dispute walked into the Fagatogo Police Station (FPS) and reported that her husband allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her.

The suspect followed the victim to the police station where he was later arrested and charged with:

Count 1: Assault in the Third Degree (As a C Misd.) (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both imprisonment and fine; and,

Count 2: Public Peace Disturbance (DV), a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both.

The defendant’s bail was set at $2,000.

Court affidavit stated that on May 25th, at approximately 9:00 a.m, a woman walked into the FPS to report that her husband Fiatele Pulesala assaulted her at the Fagatogo pavilion. It was later revealed that the suspect tried to punch her facial area but missed. The suspect then threatened to kill her.

The victim was interviewed by authorities and she briefly explained how scared she was for her life and stated this is not the first time this happened, and she wanted the suspect in jail to teach him a lesson.

The victim explained that she was on her way home from the bank when she saw the suspect walking towards her car. The suspect opened the driver’s side door and yelled profanities in Samoan at her, and threatened to kill her. He also almost hit her with a baseball.

She then closed her door and drove to the police station. However, at the same time, the suspect punched the back window on the driver’s side and he was seen following her to the police station. The victim further confirmed that this wasn’t the first time the suspect has done this.

No visible injuries were observed on the victim.

The suspect was Mirandized whereas he refused to waive his rights. He was  booked and confined to await his appearance at the District Court.

The suspect is identified as a 33-year-old citizen of Tuvalu.
