Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — In a Feb. 24th memorandum, Gov. Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga reminded cabinet members of the Island Wide Clean-Up today, Friday, Feb. 26th. All departments, agencies, offices, and authorities are “expected to participate” in the monthly clean up, he said.

Lemanu and Lt. Gov. Talauega Eleasalo Va’alele Ale appreciate everyone’s full support of the Island Wide Clean-up Committee (ICC)  — which oversees this ASG initiative, co-chaired by the heads of the American Samoa Power Authority and the American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency.

“Taking pride in keeping our Territory clean and beautiful is a shared obligation,” the governor said. “It is only with your dedication and commitment to this initiative that will maintain the beauty of our natural environment and improve the quality of life of our people.”

“Let us continue to set the example by working together to Keep Amerika Samoa Clean and Beautiful,” he concluded.

The clean-up — an initiative started by the Lolo Administration — comes at the perfect time after the territory faced high winds and heavy rain in the past several days, causing a lot of debris on the roads and other areas. Businesses and the community are encouraged to also take part in the clean up effort.
