DoH pauses 1st dose vaccinations — 2nd doses available next week

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Health Department announced yesterday afternoon that Tafuna Community Health Center would not open today, Saturday, Jan. 30th for COVID-19 vaccination.

DoH said it maxed out COVID-19 first doses for the month of January, as of Friday, Jan. 29th, and “are awaiting the next shipment for the month of February.

“We will announce when we will open again for first dose COVID-19 vaccinations but Tafuna Community Health Center” and LBJ Medical Center “will remain open next week for second dose vaccinations,” according to DoH. “This is for those who have an appointment to return for their second COVID-19 vaccination.”

DoH asked the public not to be alarmed while “continuing to practice safe distancing, wear a cloth mask and wash your hands regularly.

DoH officials said early this week that the department was expecting today, Jan. 30th another shipment of the Moderna vaccine.
