Alleged shooting in Leone lands one man in LBJ hospital

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — A man in his thirties was admitted to the LBJ Hospital early Sunday morning after he sustained a gunshot wound from an incident that allegedly occurred in Leone village.

A reliable source confirmed to Samoa News that there was a shooting in Leone and as a result, a young man was rushed to the hospital for treatment, after he was allegedly shot by another man in the leg.

According to the source, the main suspect in the alleged shooting is believed to be an inmate who allegedly escaped from the Territorial Correctional Facility on Saturday for the main purpose of carrying out the mission.

Samoa News understands that the suspect alleged has ties to Le Aute, and the alleged shooting was an order that was given to him.

A source from the Hospital told Samoa News that there was a young man who was admitted to the LBJ early Sunday morning for a gunshot wound.

The source further stated that the injury was not life threatening.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Police Commissioner were unsuccessful as of press time.

Samoa News understands that the victim in the alleged shooting is no stranger to authorities, having been incarcerated for drug and assault convictions in the past, and someone who is believed to be allegedly involved in the sale of illegal drugs.

Detectives of the DPS Vice & Narcotics Unit are investigating the matter.
