The village council of Satapuala is threatening the Samoa government with a move to occupy the land where the country’s international airport is located.A scheduled meeting called by the prime minister to discuss the village’s land dispute did not take place yesterday.More than sixty matais who were transported to Apia for the meeting have decided to return home after a request to the prime minister to meet with them in front of the government building instead of the PM’s office was rejected by the village.One of Satapuala’s high ranking orators, Va’ili Mimita, says there is no time frame set for the village to move and occupy the disputed lands.The village council has delivered a letter to the prime minister detailing its request for the government to return part of their disputed lands now legally under the Samoa Trust Estates Corporation opposite Faleolo international airport.
