| The HELP SAMOA COALITION is exactly what is described in the 1st paragraph of this article. C O A L I T I O N!
The Office of Samoan Affairs and the Samoan Federation are both non profit organizations in Carson, California who worked together in this effort as well. OSA tax ID was used specifically for the Help Samoa Coalition. Mailo's Church (newly built) was one of the largest drop off centers used for warehousing to stock pile donations as well. There were other churches as well.
There were many communities both Samoan and Non-Samoan, churches, organizations, labor unions, companies, schools, privately owned businesses in the import/export/freighting industries, federal, state and local city/county officials from all over the continental U.S. who were actively involved in the Help Samoa Coaltion. Cooperative but necessary partnerships on ground both American Samoa and Samoa governments, churches and non profit organizations in the disemmination of the emergency supplies on ground.
So many things are required besides manual labor, they are coordinating efforts to ensure all aspects of operations are organized to run smoothly in the wake of an emergency. Such as transporting and warehousing these supplies. Most certainly this coalition was every bit of a colloborative effect to ship massive amounts of supplies over seas.
NO ONE ORGANIZATION IN THIS COALITION COULD HAVE DONE ALL THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE!!!
This was indeed a HUGE HUMANITARIAN EFFORT and WAS VERY COSTLY. Our islands are not a drive away.
THANKS TO THE HELP SAMOA COALITION AND TO ALL OF ITS PARTNERS YOU ALL CAME THROUGH AND WITH A QUICK RESPONSE WHEN HELP WAS NEEDED! |

The need is greater than the vanity. Who cares about the credit. People sweep the pride aside just for a little,so children and women, and our people need not suffer needlessly. Think of your grandfather or grandmother asking for help-- think of them alive or passed on, asking and begging for help. Then think of the children asking and begging for help, then think of your parents years ago, leaving the islands for a better life, 40 50 years ago-- think of them when nobody gave them the opportunity. Now sweep aside all your fears, and work together for the good of All to assure somebody in some village, aiga or stranger is helped--- They are all our people-- Love them all the same-- they need help and thats the end of the story! Pray hard and work hard while the sun is around, to see another child is saved. Paulo |

| FIRST OF ALL..Mailo's church isn't the only donation drop off spot in Southern California. Everyone at both Mailo's church AND Office of Samoan Affairs have been working hard, day & night FOR THE SAME GOAL & PURPOSE!! If the people of Samoa are showing their appreciation for the work that is being done at OSA, then so be it. Obviously, you're working not only to help our people back home, but also TO GET YOUR OWN CREDIT for the work that you do!!! you're not the only volunteer working hard, day & night to help..so if nobody is "tooting your horn" then its ok..i'm sure God sees all the hard work being done at "MAILO'S CHURCH"..! |

| Sorry but the coalition's efforts were at the Office of Samoan Affairs. I know that you must've worked diligent at Pastor Mailo's church but there were others that worked just as hard around the globe. As you probably noticed there was a faifeau effort as well as a non-profit/matai system effort. All of which were able to provide much needed goods to American Samoa and Samoa respectively. Much of the coverage and documenting can be viewed at www.helpsamoa.com or on Facebook. Documentation was a big part to this effort because it tells the story of how, when, and the process of what went down. In years to come we will be able to share with our loved ones of how our efforts helped our people back home. God bless. |

surprised and confused on how an organization (samoan coalition)can take credit when I never once heard or seen your presence at Mailo's church where all the hard working church members and volunteers work night and day to make such efforts not be in vain. |
