Under 19 basketball teams travel to Apia & Fiji

Seen here are the American Samoa Boys and Girls Under 19 National Basketball Teams after attending church services last Sunday at the Fatuoaiga Cathedral. Parents and coaching staff of the athletes also attended the service that was presided over by Father Kelemete Pua’auli.

 

“The teams were very blessed to be with each other. Father offered blessings to the teams and bid them good luck as they prepared to travel to Apia for their training and then on to Fiji,” said the American Samoa Basketball Association (ASBA).

 

The American Samoa Boys and Girls Under-19 National Basketball Teams will be heading to Samoa tomorrow for one day before heading off to Suva, Fiji to compete in this year’s FIBA Under-19 Oceania Basketball Championships being held there from December 1- 6. There will be a total of ten island nations competing in the championships that will include host country Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, New Caledonia, Guam, Tahiti and American Samoa.

 

The Oceania champions will go on to compete in the 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship which will take place in Crete, Greece.
