Tualauta roads update

Tualauta Faipule Larry Sanitoa said the Tualauta road project should take approximately four months before moving on to the Eastern Side roads, as relayed to him by Basil Ake, General Manager of McConnell Dowell during a meeting that was held yesterday. Sanitoa told Samoa News that this is the latest on the 2nd Phase project which kicked off two weeks ago at the Iliili and Pavaiai loop.

He explained that the contractor will be issuing public notices on alternative routes as they get closer to the Futiga/Iliili intersection. The scheduled plan is after the Iliili/Pavaiai loop, which should take about four weeks, the contractor will then fix the Aoloau/Mapusaga Fou/Pavaiai route. The Tradewind/Ottoville/Fagaima Rd is next on the schedule.

“The contractor will also work on a permanent patch for several dangerous pot holes on the Iliili Rd from Lupelele Elementary to Cost U Less,” he said and noted that the Vaitogi road and the Fogagogo road will be the last two Tualauta roads on the schedule.

Regarding the Airport Road, Sanitoa said he’s been communicating with Loran Whitehorn, CEO of Whitehorn Construction, and “unfortunately a scheduled plan on construction has not been confirmed.”

“According to Loran there are still outstanding and complex issues that they are working on with DPW.  Bottom line, it is complicated to explain,” said Sanitoa.
