StarKist: Africa cannery won't compete with local exports

South Korean based Dongwon Industries, owner of StarKist Samoa cannery, has given assurance that it's new cannery operations in Africa will not compete with StarKist exports into the United States market.Last month, Dongwon signed a $21 million investment deal for the acquisition of the Societe Nouvelle Conserveries du Senegal (SNCDS), a leading cannery in Senegal. Dongwon's board chairman Jae-chul Kim attended the deal signing.At a news conference late last week, Kim was asked if American Samoa should be worried about this deal for the possibility of Dongwon - through SNCDS - exporting to the U.S. market, thereby competing with StarKist Samoa cannery.\This is Dongwon project
