NCAA track and field star is a son of Samoa

Ashland University in Ohio is the No. 1-ranked men's track and field team in the NCAA Division II. Daniel Roberts who is the son of the late Earl Glen Roberts and Elena Faiai-Roberts of Matu’u is a junior and will be competing along with his teammates in the nationals in Bradenton, Fla. at the end of May.

Ashland's men have compiled four automatic and 22 provisional marks for the 2017 nationals and they boast the top three men's hammer throwers in Division II (senior Jordan Crayon No. 1 at 69.87 meters/229-feet-3, junior Daniel Roberts No. 2 at 68.95 meters/226-feet-2 and senior Bryn Campbell No. 3 at 65.38 meters/214-feet-6).
