SN website down for several hours after spam attack

The Samoa News website has been experiencing spam attacks from an unknown source over the last few days, according to our web technicians in the States.  It is not known at this time if it was a random attack or actually targeted at Samoa News.

Hopefully, the safeguards we are taking today and the hard work of our technical crew to get us back up will pay off and in a day or two we will be able to say the problem is solved.

Coincidentally, since Thursday, the internet and cable television service in American Samoa has also been experiencing outages and is only operating in some areas of the island as of Sunday afternoon.  The two incidents do not seem to be related as the Samoa News web server is located in the U.S.

We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.  If you want any further information about the outage or if it happens again, you can email: for additional details.
