Sharks atop girls HS varsity soccer

PRESS RELEASE — Jan. 18, 2012 — Defending champs Samoana Sharks are three points clear for the top spot in the ASHSAA Girls soccer competition midway through the first round. 

With three wins after three games, the Samoana Sharks lead the division with nine points followed by the Faga’itua Vikings with six, Fa’asao-Marist Cougars in 3rd with six points, Kanana Fou Stallions in 4th with three points, followed the Tafuna Warriors in 5th, and then Iakina Adventist Academy and the Leone Lions in 6th & 7th, respectively.

Teams are awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss to determine the standings. If two teams are tied in the points’ category, the difference of goals scored and goals against tiebreaker comes into play. 

As for the J-V division, the Warriors lead with six points, followed by defending champs Samoana with three, then Faga’itua and Leone in 3rd and 4th, respectively, with 0 points apiece.
