Senators selected for Sua

Two more senators were selected last week by their county councils and traditional leaders. The senators are for the county of Sua.

SUA COUNTY

In accordance with local law and constitution, Sua county has two seats in the Senate. This county comprises the villages of Fagaitua, Amaua, Auto, Avaio, Alega, Aumi, Laulii, Sailele, Masausi, Masefau and Afono.

Last Saturday the county council met to make their selection and reports received by Samoa News said the selection process was made easy as traditional leaders stayed with their protocol of rotating the seats among the village councils.

Information received by Samoa News states the new senators are Sua Vaiuli Matautia of Afono and Tialavea Misi of Amaua. The county seats are currently held by Sens. Malepeai Setu and Lemanu Peleti Sialega Mauga, who is the lieutenant governor-elect.

When contacted for comments both Sua and Tialavea confirmed their selections and are pleased with the honor to represent Sua county in the next four years in the Senate. Both of them have retired from ASG service.
