Scanlan named Cadet of the Year

PLU wins MacArthur Award

In a ceremony earlier this month, Jordan Riley Scanlan, a junior at Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in Tacoma, Washington, was named the Cadet of the Year for the third year in a row. In addition, Scanlan was selected as the incoming Battallion Commander, which makes him the highest ranking cadet at PLU.

Earlier this year, PLU won the MacArthur Award, which is given by the U.S. Army to the University with the best ROTC program in the country. PLU is part of the 8th Brigade which includes the University of Guam and the American Samoa Community College.

Jordan, pictured here on the left, is a 2010 graduate of Tafuna High School. Standing on the far right is his proud father, Aliimau Scanlan, Jr.  Standing between them is the Sergeant Major for the 82nd Airborne Division, who was on hand for the change of command. Facilitating the Change of Command was the Lt. General in charge of the entire U.S. Army ROTC program.

Scanlan is planning to visit his family in American Samoa this summer after he attends the LDAC leadership training.
