Samoa raid finds guns, drugs

A substantial amount of marijuana, suspected stolen property and firearms were discovered by Police during a raid, yesterday morning.

Two villages were raided and all of the items were found in a family home at the village of Tuvao, an inland village between Faleatiu and Fasito’o-uta.

The raid was confirmed by Assistant Police Commissioner, Le’aupepe Fatu Pula, yesterday.

“A lot of firearms and allegedly stolen items were found at Tuvao,” he said. “Some of the property was found buried underground.”

Le’aupepe said some of the items included transformers, bullets, video machines, guns and marijuana joints.

“We understand that they (family at Tuvao that were raided) are connected to the family in Faleatiu,” he said.

“The raid also discovered a hole that buried most of the items that we suspect are stolen.”

Le’aupepe said the police suspect that some of the firearms found at Tuvao were used during the gun battle at Faleatiu, last month.
