Samoa police officers begin push to lose weight

The police in Samoa have launched a weight loss competition to encourage overweight officers to slim down.The phone company BlueSky Samoa has given the police department almost 3,000 US dollars to stage a Biggest Loser competition.The Commissioner of Police Lilomaiava Fou Taialo says despite regular training and physical tests, many officers are obese.Fifty-five officers from all sections of the police force have entered the contest, which offers prizes to those who lose the most pounds by the end of three months.The Associate Minister of Police, Tialavea Fea Seigafolava, says in order to be alert, officers have to maintain good health.
