Samoa PM threatens to step into solar project if delays continue

Cabinet will get involved if delays to the national solar power project continue, warns Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.“Issues” between the ministry of Finance, EPC Electric Power Corporation and Solar Samoa have been testing the patience of the Prime Minister for nearly a year.“Because of how long you have taken on this issue, like a God damned un-castrated horse, cabinet will not accept any more adjournments,” Prime Minister Tuilaepa wrote in a letter to all three organisations.“Within one week from today you will have a decision”, he wrote in a letter dated 3rd May.On 16th July 2012, Australian Company, Eco Energy Solutions announced a ground breaking ceremony on a $50 million project with local company Solar Samoa Ltd.By September, however, media were raising questions about the project being stalled.In january, Solar Samoa denied reports that an investor had left the country with unpaid bills.Four months later, it seems the patience of the Prime Minister has run out.\Present a paper to cabinet including all issues you have failed to agree on.
