Samoa Enters Bowl Semifinal on Sunday

Manu Samoa made their fans rock the Las Vegas Sam Boyd Stadium when they stomped Brazil, 26-7 in the first of four Bowl championship quarterfinals played late Saturday evening.In winning their second match on the second day of the IRB sevens circuit, Manu Samoa enters the Bowl championship semifinal on Sunday, the last day of the tournament where they will meet Kenya.Samoa scored four tries and led 5-0 at halftime. The touchdowns came from Lafaele Tuliu Va’a, Gregory Foe, Tulolo Tulolo, Samoa Toloa and Tain Lam. Brazil’s only try came at full time. Captain Lolo Lui made a tactical error when he opted to spin the ball instead of kicking it into touch and ended the game. It will meet Argentina (which narrowly escaped Japan 15-12) in the other half of the Bowl semifinals on the final day of the Las Vegas-three day competition.The Shield semifinals championship matches have also been set. Japan will face Wales while Brazil will tackle Portugal. In the Cup quarterfinals, Fiji romped past France 31-5, South Africa came from behind to clobber England, 21-14. New Zealand rocked Australia, 28-7 and USA shattered Canada’s hopes of reaching the semifinal with a 20-0 shutout. Sunday’s Cup semifinal actions will see South Africa playing Fiji, and New Zealand will wrestle the crowd and tournament favorite, host country USA. The Plate semifinals will pity France against England and Australia will take on Canada.Day three actions will begin at 10:20 Sunday morning. The final match of the Vegas tournament will take place at 3:45 Sunday afternoon.
