Samoa cooked breadfruit on export trial in Australia

Cooked breadfruit from Samoa is still banned from entering New Zealand but the first trial of export cooked breadfruit to Australia has had positive responses from retailers there. The general manager of the Farmer Joe company in Apia, Alex Brunt, says its modern commercial oven has been used to bake the breadfruit, and says feedback from the retailers and customers alike is positive.Samoa's ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, with assistance from the Australian Government's Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access Programme, has been working on the trial, and says the programme will benefit local farmers. The ministry says a second export trial is now being prepared.
