Samoa announces Rugby World Cup squad

The 31 players who will head to England to represent Samoa in this year's Rugby World Cup have been announced. Head coach Stephen Betham has confirmed that London Irish back-rower Ofisa Treviranus (pictured) will lead the side, as one of 12 English-based players named in the squad.The 18 forwards named in the squad makes Samoa's intentions clear, they hope to overpower their opponents and smash their way through Pool B where they will take on South Africa, Japan, Scotland and the USA.Premiership experience in abundanceA large amount of the squad have experience playing in English conditions, which could be crucial in the upcoming World Cup.Alongside Treviranus who skippers the side, Bristol pair Jack Lam and Anthony Perenise, as well as Newcastle's Alesana Tuilagi, who is well known to all fans in Europe after his years of dominance. For the experienced Tuilagi this will be his last attempt at making his mark on the sport's showpeice event after also appearing at the 2003, 2007 and 2011 editions of the competition.
