Samoa AG explains arrest and extradition of wanted criminal

A 40-year old man from Samoa has been extradited to New Zealand to answer a rape charge.The justice minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, received a request from the New Zealand government for the extradition of Fatu Seti, who was reportedly working in a village resort.The Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai, says the request was received last December and the prime minister who was the acting justice minister early this month, issued the extradition order.Mr Seti was taken back to New Zealand last Saturday.He was on the run for eight years after committing an alleged sexual offence.According to reports, Mr Seti was able to leave New Zealand using a new passport under a different name and dressed as a woman.
