Samoan twins dedicate paddle to their grandfather

Samoan twins Deon & Leon Tupo Alaimaleata of Alofau village took their first shot by paddling with Healani Canoe Club Junior team of Hawaii, 43 miles from Molokai to Waikiki this past Saturday.

Between their college studies they diligently trained to be part of the event sponsored by Hawaiian Airlines. They dedicate their first Molokai Hoe to their grandfather Malagamafaleupolu Tausaga Selesele Tupo who passed away from lung cancer, someone who paddled during his teenage years who is an inspiration to their life as teenagers.

Deon is studying aeronautics at the University of Hawaii Hawaii Community College while Leon is pursuing his law degree at Chaminade University.  Both are in their 2nd year in college making great strides with lots of pride being Samoans.
