Mu Fualau, Roman Luamanu, Sui Fualau and Magia La'iva.

Apia, SAMOA — Four men who assaulted and kidnapped a taxi driver before stuffing him in the boot while they went on an all night drinking spree, have been sent to jail in Samoa.

TV1Samoa reported Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke told the young offenders that their actions were indicative of being small minded.

The incident happened in March when the four asked the driver to take them to Vaoala.

The court heard the ringleader of the group, 19 year old Roman Luamanu, assaulted the 64 year old driver before they stuffed him in the boot.

They then went on a drinking spree in the taxi using fare money to buy beer.

The driver managed to escape when the vehicle stopped and raised the alarm.

Luamanu was sentenced to 17 months in jail while 18 year old Mu Fualau was sent to jail for nine months.

The other two, 25 year old Sui Fualau and 23 year old Magia Laiva each received eight month terms.
