Samoa couple face 11 criminal charges
Apia, SAMOA — A Salelologa couple is denying criminal charges of possession of narcotics, firearms, and ammunition. The couple entered not guilty pleas to 11 charges in court this week before Justice Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke.
Court prosecution has alleged that the illegal items were found on Oscar Chong Nee and Senora Graig-Chong Nee on 25 June 2019.
Bail was granted for Mrs. Chong Nee when the matter was first mentioned in court and she was ordered to surrender all travel documents.
She is to sign up at Tuasivi Police Station and reside in Salelologa until the court says otherwise.
As for Mr. Chong Nee, he was granted bail and ordered to surrender all his travel documents, reside at Salelologa, and sign up at the Tuasivi police station as well.
The court also heard the couple owns a business and they have a 1-month-old son.
The matter has been adjourned for hearing on the 17th of February, 2020.
