Apia, SAMOA — Samoa's Tupua Tamases Meaole Hospital is still waiting on laboratory confirmation that a 14-year-old girl who died earlier this month had typhoid and dengue.

Local media reports quoted the family saying that was what they had been told by hospital officials.

But the director general of health, Take Naseri, said there was no laboratory confirmation to date.

He said there was no dengue outbreak in Samoa at the moment, while there was the occasional case of typhoid - usually around three a month.
