HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -A Hawaiian Airlines flight was diverted Saturday afternoon after an incident on board.

The airline says Flight 42 from Maui to San Francisco was in the air for two to three hours in the air before being diverted due to reports of an unruly passenger.

According to officials, the male passenger, who was vacationing with a female friend, had a lot of alcohol before the incident. The woman continued on the flight, and the plane only spent a short time on Oahu after landing at 5 p.m.

No emergency was declared by airplane crew members. The flight landed safely at the Daniel K. Inouye International Aiport on Oahu shortly after 5 p.m.

The offending male passenger will be federally charged on Monday for interference with a flight crew.
