Apia, SAMOA — The Pacific Games organizers are not worried by any danger posed by the escaped prisoners still at large, for this is included in the security details for the regional event.

This is the reassurance from the CEO of the Pacific Games Committee Falefata Hele Matatia.

Falefata told Newsline that the Pacific Games Committee have already met with the Ministry of Police and have given them an update of the security measures already put in place right from the time athletes, officials and guests  arrive in Samoa, their stay in the accommodations right to the time they depart.

Falefata would not divulge the security details but said all that is in the protective hands of the Police Commissioner and the Ministry of Police.

“ We have been briefed by the Ministry of Police of the whole  plan and included in it is the protection from the escaped prisoners.

“ Security of the country should be a collective responsibility. The good reputation of our country is in our hands. So the safety of our country is in  the hands of the village councils and every family.”

During the duration of the Games, Police teams will be stationed at the airports, competition venues and accommodations. They will also supply other logistic support.

Prisoners on the run are Suitupe Fa’amoe Paufa’i  escaped in May this year and Pati Chong Nee who escaped in January.
