Rainy weather may delay completion of Airport Road project

The current rainy conditions may cause a delay in the completion of the Airport Road Project, which has a completion deadline of mid-January 2015.

This is according to Dept, of Public Works (DPW) acting Civil Highway manager Doris Sipeli’i who said yesterday that the project is more than half way done.

Traffic in the area has been somewhat slow recently, with workers from McConnell Dowell trying to tie up loose ends in the construction of four roundabouts and a new two-lane road.

In addition, the road between the airport entrance looping around to the area from the Konelio Pele Army Reserve Center heading west near the McConnell Dowell office will have a completely new look.

In the meantime, motorists are advised to expect minor traffic delays and be mindful of the traffic controllers stationed at the main diversion points who will help to stop/slow and direct traffic.
