The owner of the “Le Aute” Sports Bar and her brother are being held in jail at the Tafuna Correctional facility for 48 hours following the raid of the well known bar in the Tualatai district on Monday. While there, police uncovered methamphetamine and marijuana along with guns, according to a police officer, who is not authorized to speak with the media.

More than 50 police officers participated in executing several search warrants during the raid, which covered five residences including the Aute bar.

During the raid — which lasted over five hours — police officers were armed either with a shot gun or a revolver. Also involved in the raid were police dogs, trained to search for drugs and weapons.

According to our source, during the search of a woman’s bedroom, they found a glass pipe that allegedly contained methamphetamine. It’s alleged that police also uncovered a pouch behind the brother’s house containing baggies that had eight marijuana joints. Its further alleged that the brother admitted that the drugs found inside the pouch were his property.

Also, in one of the houses, which appeared to be abandoned, the officers allegedly uncovered two medium baggies containing methamphetamine, valued at close to $10,000 — and two guns.

Samoa News has been able to ascertain that police took into custody 14 men including the owner of the bar — a woman — and as of yesterday afternoon just the owner of the bar and her brother are behind bars pending official charges, which are to be filed by the Attorney General’s office after the police report has been completed.

Traffic slowed down on Monday when the public reached the area, the entrance to the property raided, as police officers blocked off the road to Aute and no one was allowed to enter or exit, including government vehicles, such as the one belonging to the American Samoa Power Authority that had a project near the area affected by the search.

The raid, which started at 9:30a.m. and ended around 2:00p.m. yielded four police trucks loaded with around 15 men and one woman taken into custody for questioning.
