American Samoa’s very first professional MMA fighter Deutsch Puu, who has been involved in the fight scene for over 30 years, will be stepping back into the ring once again, this time in a professional Muay Thai fight against Panama Tauga who is from California and is also of Samoan descent. The fight will be this coming November 1 in Sacramento, California at the Muay Thai Global 5 event.

Puu, who originally hung up his gloves in January of 2013 year after a big TKO win over heavily favored Ultimate Fighting Challenge (UFC) championship contender Wesley ‘Cabbage’ Correira, came out of retirement this past May, after just 14 months. In speaking about Tauga, Puu stated on social media that he is not looking past this ‘Young, Hungry’ powerhouse and that he will be ready for war.

“I would rather not fight another Uso, but out respect for this Uso and Muay Thai Global, I will accept the offer,” said Puu.

Before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada where he is the Muay Thai and Kickboxing head coach of the Hawaiian Fighting Arts-Las Vegas under Black Belt Hall of Famer, SIFU Joseph Solis, Puu has coached many talented fighters who've won numerous titles fighting out of the Hawaiian Fighting Arts-Oahu where he was also the MMA coach under Solis.

Muay Thai is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This physical and mental discipline, which includes combat on shins, is known as ‘the art of of eight limbs’ because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins associated with a good physical preparation that makes a full contact fighter very efficient.

Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the twentieth century, when practitioners defeated notable practitioners of other martial arts.
