Paul Williams to captain Manu Samoa South African tour

Paul Williams has been given the nod by the Manu Samoa management to lead the team into their South African Campaign. Williams’s replaces skipper David Lemi who is unavailable for selection due to injuries and is currently under rehabilitation. Paul Williams is the son of the All Blacks Legend BG Williams who was also a Head Coach of Manu Samoa. This continues the long association and service of the Williams family to Samoan Rugby and the Chairman has applauded the recognition of Paul's leadership qualities and seniority in the team.Team Manager Namulauulu Sami Leota says camp in Johannesburg is going well and players have started to settle in after making their way from their professional rugby clubs they are contracted to.Namulauulu added there had been changes to the team due to family and personal commitments, including Kahn Fotualii replaced by Junior Poluleuligaga, Auvasa Falealii replaced by Alatasi Tupou, George Pisi replaced by Sinoti Sinoti, and Maurie Faasavalu replaced by Piula Faasalele.Tusiata Pisi, Alapati Leiua, Jack Lam, Jeremy Sua, as well as Piula Faasalele, Iosefa Tekori, Tii Paulo, Census Johnston Alafoti Faosiliva, Logovii Mulipola and Taiasina Tuifua will be joining the camp after playing their finals in the Super 15, French and UK competitions this weekend.Daniel Leo will have to serve one more week of suspension from a club match before he is to join the team.According to Namulauulu the “whole camp is in good spirit and the team have been well looked after by the South African Rugby Union and are all looking forward to face the biggest and no doubt the toughest assignment face by your Manu Samoa this year, playing 3 tier one nations in this one off competition.”The Manu Samoa team to play the Lions was expected to be named last night.
