Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Aumua Amata is congratulating U.S. Army Master Sergeant Christabel “Chris” Lupetaliaami Jennings Joyner upon her retirement ceremony following 26 years of honorable service to our country.

“Congratulations to Chris upon her retirement ceremony this week, and a special thank you to her for 26 years of exemplary service to our country,” said Aumua Amata. “Chris is one of our own with deep roots from American Samoa and Swains Island, and we’re all very proud of her dedication, including years of deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa.”

“Our appreciation and warm congratulations also to her parents, our friends Tinousi Tuiletufuga Sema Faualo and David Eli Jennings, along with Chris’s own wonderful family, her husband Chuck Joyner, eight children and twelve grandchildren,” continued Congresswoman Amata. “We all wish you the very best in your well-earned retirement from service, and all your new plans and choices as a family upon leaving the Armed Forces.”

MST Chris Joyner was specially honored by the Army with a retirement ceremony on 25 October at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Chris retires with the rank of E-8, and an extensive record of deployments in wars and conflicts, including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Ebola containment efforts in Africa. Her last assignment was at Fort Bliss, Texas.

“MST Chris is yet another excellent example for our young people in American Samoa of an enlisted soldier building for themselves and their families a commendable career and a fine life, along with leadership skills and education,” concluded Amata. “Many of our young people every year consider potentially serving our country and our islands have given them many superb role models. Our thoughts are with our people serving today all over the world. It’s because of all of them that I seek to have a voice for our returning Veterans through my Committee assignment in Congress.”
