Gwendolyn Emmsley Peko promoted to First Lieutenant and earns her Masters

Fort Sam Houston, TEXAS — Gwendolyn Emmsley Peko was recently promoted to First Lieutenant (1LT) and has just received her Masters in in Social Work. 1LT Emmsley-Peko is a Licensed Social Worker and will earn the title Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) upon completion of a 2 year internship at Tripler Army Medical Center 2018-2020.

The Leone native is currently stationed at Fort Sam Houston (San Antonio, Texas) but will be PCS-ing to Tripler Army Medical Center May of 2018. 1LT Emmsley-Peko has been active duty army for 5 years. She enlisted into the US Army in Nov 2012 as a 27D (Paralegal Specialist) and then crossed over to become a 73A (Social Work Officer) in September of 2016.

Gwendolyn is the daughter of Moefa’auo William Theodore Emmsley Jr. of Leone and Luana Tagomailelagi-Se’ei of Lauli’i and Vatia. She is a proud alumni of Leone High School, the Home of the Mighty Lions. She’s happily married to Ta’auta Peko of Futiga, Am.SAmoa.

1LT Emmsley-Peko will continue to pursue her career in the United States Army and will be moving towards earning the position to provide clinical counseling, crisis intervention, critical event debriefing, enhance unit readiness and the emotional well-being for service members and their families.

She is seen here being pinned by her mother and husband who were present at her promotion ceremony and graduation. When the officer was asked for a comment she stated, “Always put God first in everything you do and everything else will fall into place. Always remember to stay humble, work hard, and be honest in all that you do.”
