Nu'uuli VocTech hosts forum for 2012 candidates

Teams running for the position of Governor and Lt. Governor were present yesterday at the candidates forum held at the Gov. H. Rex Lee Auditorium, hosted by the students of Nu’uuli VocTech High School Senior Class and National Technical Honor Society.

The forum included a session with candidates running in the 2012 election for Congressional Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, which took place after the gubernatorial session.

Gubernatorial teams included: Le’i and Afoa, Sandra and Save, Lolo and Lemanu, and Savusa and Salu. Missing from the line-up was the gubernatorial team of Faoa and Taufete’e, who wrote in reply to Nu’uuli VocTech’s invitation that Faoa is currently off-island and the team was therefore unable to participate. They were not present either at the Fagaitua High School forum held earlier in the month.

Those running for the Congressional Delegate seat on hand yesterday were: Rosie Fuala’au Tago Lancaster, incumbent Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, and Aumua Amata. Candidate Lancaster declared her candidacy after the forum, yesterday.

Seizing a golden opportunity to register voters young and old, the Election Office staff set up a table and camera with their official computers at the Lee Auditorium yesterday, where eligible residents were able to register to vote before and after the forum.

Format for the forum was each candidate/ team got a chance to answer students’ questions during the nearly 5- hour forum. Samoa News will publish details of the forum in Wednesday’s paper.
