Dear Editor,

Our government continues to seek more sources of local revenue in order to fund the vital services needed by our people. I have a suggestion to make to our legislators instead of burdening our people with more taxes and higher fees. Why not offer personalized license plates and charge more for the privilege of having the name or slogan of your choice on your vehicle’s license plate?

A lot of people, myself, included, would be willing to pay for this service. Many states and territories collect a lot of money from the sale and continued registration of personalized license plates. The individuals who pay for the privilege of having a personalized license plate willingly pay — unlike increased taxes and fees which are very unpopular and a burden to many families and individuals.
