DPS shuffles personnel due to manpower shortage

Commissioner of Public Safety, Save Liuato Tuitele says that due to the significant number of police officers retiring and voluntarily separating from the department this year, they found it necessary to review the distribution list of police officers, and reassign them in order for the department to be more efficient in carrying out their mandated responsibilities.

The Commissioner has shuffled three police officers, effective Sept. 3, 2015. Officer Joseph Lumana’i who was working at the Traffic Division is now reassigned to the governor’s personal protective detail, Officer Byron Saifoloi with the Patrol Division is now reassigned to Traffic, and replacing Saifoloi at Patrol is police officer Tupu Taulelei, who's currently detailed to the identification unit.
