Escaped Samoa prisoner breaks into supermarket, steals $50,000

An escaped prisoner broke into Farmer Joe’s Supermarket at Vaitele last week and stole more than $50,000.The theft was confirmed by Police Spokesperson, Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu, yesterday.“Police have already found the person who broke into Farmer Joe’s Supermarket,” he said.“He was a prisoner at Olomanu.”According to Su’a, the prisoner was out on weekend parole to spend Sunday with his family. He was scheduled to return to Olomanu on Monday.He didn’t.On one of the nights when the Police looked for him, he broke into the store.Su’a said more than $50,000 was stolen from the Supermarket that night but their investigation is continuing.According to an employee, the man climbed through a window of the building and he only took notes.He attempted to break into the cash vault as well as the ATM machine there but couldn't.The employee said the accused was captured on security camera and the cash he took was the sales for Monday, which was supposed to have been banked the next day.
